BLM FIRE IDAHO
Leading web design and public safety campaigns for a government agency focused on fire safety and mitigation.
As part of the team at Circuit Media, I have worked on several projects for the BLM Fire Idaho department to design websites, art direct campaigns, and create marketing and social media collateral for their various needs and initiatives. The following two projects are featured: the BLM Fire Idaho’s website re-design (2023) & the art direction and graphic design of the campaign, #CreateMemoriesNotDisasters (2024 - COMING SOON).

BLM Fire ID Dispatch Website
Myself, along with the web design and project management team at Circuit Media, collaborated to complete this website for BLM Idaho Fire Dispatch in time for their end of year recruitment push. BLM Idaho Fire Dispatch relies on this website to expand their reach, serve as an information hub, and to provide relevant messaging and information to site visitors. The project consisted of a full redesign of the site to create a professional, modern, and accessible experience.
Project success was defined by creating a site that was:
User-friendly across all devices;
Cohesively and thoughtfully designed for longevity;
Accessible and 508 compliant;
A clear and reliable source of information for the BLM Fire Management community;
Capable of in-house updates and additions for frequent information updates;
Easily navigable for visitors to quickly find pertinent information.

User Experience Design
The old site was very complicated and composed of local and external resource links that needed to be organized and inventoried. I compiled a comprehensive site map and user flow chart to help articulate to the team what needed to be built, how the final navigation menu needed to be structured, and where we needed to implement CTAs and easy access links that were relevant to the user’s journey. By having multiple team members review this user flow chart and testing the existing website themselves, we identified any choke points or roadblocks that we needed to fix for the final website.
Visual Design & UI
Circuit Media had previously designed a website for BLM ID Fire Information, which is affiliated with BLM Fire Dispatch. As such, I implemented the pre-determined colors, fonts, and logos from the style guide when designing for this website. I created a few new custom icons and illustrations specific to this site, as well as identified new photos that fit within the scope of the BLM Fire Dispatch/Fire Information brand.
Page designs were first presented as low-fidelity wireframes to invoke the layout and assembly of information, then refined as high-fidelity mockups in Adobe XD that would be re-created by Circuit Media’s web designer in Elementor.
It was important to keep the limitations of Elementor in mind, as well as ensure that we were designing a website that was accessible. To make sure both those needs were achieved, I would routinely check my work for color contrast issues, adaptability across platforms, readability, and robustness as I worked. When in doubt, I consulted with Circuit Media’s web team to ensure that nothing was implemented that would cause the site to not be WCAG compliant or would be too complicated for the client to upkeep themselves after the site launch.
